What Will You Learn?
If you are practicing ANY martial art, one of the first goals should be to be able to apply your skills in a real-life self defense scenario. Paul Sharp has 20+ years of real life experience in some of the most intense situations imaginable, it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about remaining calm and using his Jiu-Jitsu to overcome the aggressor. Jiu-Jitsu Based Self Defense Strategies gives your REAL tactics for REAL situations. Don’t get lost in fancy techniques that will only lead to trouble!
Paul covers everything from deescalation strategies to disarming weapons and everything in between. Paul demonstrates drills to help guide you to being able to actually pull off the techniques you are learning. Drilling can be great for multiple reasons. First it is a great way to get the skill you are learning ingrained into your reactions. When “it” hits the fan you need to be able to react in a realistic manner and drilling is one of the primary ways to make your skills usable. Another great benefit to drilling is it is a fun way to get the heart pumping while sharpening your skills.
On top of the ample amount of drills you get to learn the Jiu-Jitsu approach to self defense. Passing the guard is a major theme of Jiu-Jitsu. If you are unfamiliar with what the guard is, just know that when someone is on their back and their legs are in between their opponent they are using some form of guard. Commonly in self defense, if you are able to get your attacker to the ground their first reaction will be to unleash a fury of kicks. Paul teaches you how to use Jiu-Jitsu based passes like the toreando that will allow you to deal with the legs of your attacker.
The beauty of Jiu-Jitsu is that most people have ZERO idea what to do once someone starts to attach to them. Jiu-Jitsu provides ample amounts of grips and controls to stifle what your attacker can do. Once you are able to use Paul’s techniques to bring the fight to the floor, it will be a HUGE uphill battle for your attacker to overcome.
If you are looking for a different approach grounded in reality Paul Sharp’s Jiu-Jitsu Based Self Defense Strategies is for you!
